MYTH #3:

IT'S TOO HOT AND MUGGY

Learn to dive!Don't knock it till you've tried it! Stop complaining and belly up to the pool bar and have another margarita! Go explore a coral reef by trying snorkeling or scuba diving

My bathing suit: I never leave home without it. Take a ride into the mountains and enjoy our tropical rain forest. Take a hike up a creek, and jump in and cool off when you get too warm. Bathing suits optional!

Mangroves and water birdsVisit our 31-mile lagoon with hundreds of water birds and other interesting creatures. Take a  kayak trip down the  Marabasco River that leads to the sea. Go horseback riding through the jungle. Are you cool enough yet?

Where is everyone?Go for a swim at the base of the El Salto waterfall, and float down the canyon. There's hardly ever anyone there, and you can hike up to the top (where there are more  natural pools), or explore the small grotto on the other side of the canyon. There're picnic tables, barbecue grills, and several  man-made swimming pools (fed by the waterfall), so you'll have plenty of  choices to stay cool.

Pick pretty papayas, please There are dozens of ways to chill out and enjoy the fruits of summer, including melons, papayas, mangoes, bananas, and coconuts (which can be turned into some very interesting tropical drinks, such as margaritas, piņa coladas, and daiquiris)!

Gomanzanillo!

A Spanish galleon visits ManzanilloSummer sunsets are bestNo doubt summer is absolutely the best time to visit Manzanillo. The hills are the greenest, the water's the warmest, and best of all, you'll have the beaches all to yourself (unless this story  about our fabulous summers in friendly Manzanillo changes everything)!

For further information on Manzanillo and the state of Colima, order Susan Dearing's 150-page tourist guidebook.
