Victor Hugo Gonzalez Rosas was born in Manzanillo, Colima in 1969.
He was
graduated from the University of Colima with honors, and majored in political science and
history.
As a
local historian and former reporter for the local newspaper, "El Correo," he
gained experience so he could go on to compile one of the most complete collections of
photographs of Manzanillo's history.
Collecting
and restoring old photos, and documenting Manzanillo's history has been a project for Sr.
Gonzales Rosas for more than 17 years.
He
recently was presented with the prestigious "Citizen of the Year" award by Mayor
Martha Sosa, for his efforts in recording Manzanillo's history, totally without
remuneration.
Gonzalez
Rosas is currently writing a book entitled, "The Photographic History of
Manzanillo," to be published at the end of this year.
Many
photos included in our text on the "History of Manzanillo" page have been
donated to our web site, gomanzanillo.com, by Sr. Gonzalez Rosas. His current efforts are
to raise funds to open a museum with photos, documents and other artifacts from
Manzanillo's history. For more information, contact susan@gomanzanillo.com. |
